Shirin Neshat: Dreams Are Where Our Fears Live

TATE

documentary, 8 min, 2021

When we were invited by the TATE to film a short piece with world-renowned artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat, we were moved by her long, storied journey to becoming an artist. We understood and identified with her feelings of longing, displacement, and self-examination and sought to translate that in our film the way she has in so many of her works. In many ways profiling another filmmaker, and certainly one of such prestige, was an exciting, novel experience for us, and we were determined to capture Shirin’s gentle power, love for storytelling, and vulnerability in this piece – feelings that we deeply relate to.

We are also thrilled that in less than 2 weeks from publishing, the film reached over 100K views on YouTube. It’s always moving and encouraging to see our work resonate with audiences, far and wide.
