Yayoi Kusama

David Zwirner Gallery

branded & institutional storytelling, 2 min, 2021

For this short piece showcasing Yayoi Kusama’s 2021 landmark exhibition at the New York Botanical Gardens, KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature, we sought to capture the joy, mystery, and intensity of Kusama’s work. Taking inspiration from the artist’s lifelong fascination with the natural world, we pitched a majestic and mesmerizing stylistic approach to David Zwirner Gallery, one of the leading and most influential galleries in New York and worldwide. By experimenting with camera filters, steadicam choreography, and an ethereal bed of sound and music, we mimicked the intertwining of emotion and nature that is inherent in Kusama’s art and particularly poignant amidst the colorful spring flora of the New York Botanical Gardens.

The film, featured as the centerpiece of David Zwirner’s Cosmic Nature, was also promoted on the Gallery’s social media platforms, achieving high levels of engagement and over 25,000 views and likes on Instagram.
